Steelheads Sign Draft Picks Quinn Binnie and Ethan Kowatsch

MISSISSAUGA, ON - Steelheads General Manager and Head Coach, James Richmond announced Wednesday that 2020 ninth-round pick, Quinn Binnie, and 2021 sixth-round pick, Ethan Kowatsch, have signed Standard Player Agreements with the hockey club.

From Stouffville, Ontario, Binnie was originally selected by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection in the ninth round, at 167th overall. Binnie recorded 25 points (10G, 15A) in 35 games with Richmond Hill Coyotes of the ETAHL. He has spent most of the 2021-22 season with the Pickering Panthers of the OJHL, registering 7 points in 28 games (2G, 7A). At 5'10", 198 pounds, Binnie's size and on-ice skills will be an asset to this Steelheads team.

Kowatsch, the Mississauga, Ontario native, was initially selected by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection in the sixth round, at 110th overall. The 6'0", 183 pound goalie played in net for the Toronto Titans of the GTHL in the 2019-20 season and the Toronto Patriots of the OJHL in the 2021-22 season. Kowatsch was the fourth overall goalie to be selected in the 2021 Draft.
