November 9, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brampton Steelheads News Release

After back-to-back home wins against the Niagara IceDogs and Kingston Frontenacs this past weekend, the Mississauga Steelheads are back on the road for their annual U.S. road trip.. Fitting in nicely is new addition Alan Lyszczarczyk, who had four points in the Steelheads' two wins this past weekend. Heading to Saginaw with a 10-5-2-0 record, Lyszczarczyk and the Steelheads take on the Spirit on Friday, then continue on to Flint for their second game of a back-to-back on Saturday to face the Firebirds.

Saginaw Spirit

Looking to close the gap between the division leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, the Saginaw Spirit are sitting second in their division with an 8-6-1-1 record. Leading the way for the Spirit is former Steelheads' forward, Albert Michnac who has 22 points in 16 games. Facing off twice last year, the Steelheads and Spirit split their season series 1-1. With the Spirit going 5-4-1-0 in their last 10 games, the Steelheads are looking to extend their win streak to three in a row.

Flint Firebirds

After finally getting their first win of the season on Wednesday's matinee game, the Flint Firebirds sit at 1-16-1-0, and have registered only three points so far this season. Taking on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday before their game against the Steelheads on Saturday, the Firebirds are looking for their first back-to-back wins of the season in hopes to grind their way out of last place in the OHL. In two games last year, the Steelheads finished their season series 1-1 against the Firebirds.

Players to Watch

Mississauga Steelheads

Alan Lyszczarczyk: Joining a new team almost two months into the season is a tough adjustment for most, but Lyszczarczyk has adapted to the change seamlessly. Playing on the second line and getting key power play minutes, Lyszczarczyk has registered four points in three games so far as a Steelhead, bringing him to 15 points in 13 games on the season. Looking to be a mainstay on the Steelheads' top six, Lyszczarczyk's new found chemistry with Owen Tippett should prove to be a powerhouse line for the Steelheads.

Saginaw Spirit

Albert Michnac: In his third season in the OHL, Michnac is on pace to have his best year to date. The former Steelhead registered 59 points in 60 games last season with Mississauga before being traded to Saginaw. With 22 points in 16 games so far this season, Michnac has only been held off the score sheet twice.

Flint Firebirds

Ty Dellandrea: The 13th overall pick for the Dallas Stars in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft is one of the few bright spots this season for the Flint Firebirds. Playing in his third season in the OHL, the Port Perry native is looking to get the Firebirds in the win column for only the second time this season. The Firebirds are last in the OHL with 45 goals for, but Dellandrea's 19 points in 18 games has him registering a point in over 40% of the team's goals.

The Steelheads are back at home on Wednesday, November 14th, when they take on the Guelph Storm at 11:00 am for their first of two school day games this season.
