Las Vegas, NV - Brandon Kaleniecki's five-on-five marker at 6:56 of the third period gave the Wranglers a 4-3 lead and they hung on to defeat the Steelheads by that score in front of 3,753 fans at Orleans Arena on Thursday morning.

The loss ends the Steelheads (6-5-6) two-game winning streak as they remain winless on the road this season at 0-4-2. Meanwhile the Wranglers (14-2-0) have won 10 straight and they now lead the ECHL with 28 points.

The home team opened the game's scoring at 4:37 of the first period, getting an even-strength goal by defenseman Aaron Power. Ryan Donati began the play by rushing into the Steelheads zone and feeding Power who flipped a backhander past Steve Silverthorn (20 saves) for his third of the year.

Less than three minutes later the Wranglers power play struck for a 2-0 advantage. Defenseman Sean Owens picked up the goal, his second, with Bruce Mulherin and Jason Jozsa collecting the helpers.

At 12:49 Steelheads' winger Lance Galbraith potted his seventh of the season to make it a 2-1 game. On the play, Richard Clune fed Galbraith in the offensive zone, but the puck bounced off his stick and free to Jozsa. Jozsa in turn gave up the puck to Galbraith who quickly snapped the disc over the glove of Kevin Lalande (15 saves) for an unassisted goal.

With just nine seconds left in the first period, the Wranglers man advantage tallied again on defenseman Gerry Burke's third of the campaign. Off an offensive zone draw, Tyler Mosienko won the puck back to Power who tossed it free for Burke's shot that found its way through traffic and past Silverthorn.

After 20 minutes of play the Steelheads trailed 3-1 and were out-shot nine to six.

Midway through the second period the visitors earned their first of two straight, odd-man rush goals. First, Matt Craig netted his second of the year to make it 3-2. From the left wing wall, Craig found Travis Wight moving through center on the right side and the second-year defenseman burst into the offensive zone and fired a backhander that Lalande kicked aside. However, Craig was able to grab the rebound and smack it home for an even-strength marker.

At the 18:54 mark of the of the frame, Taggart Desmet converted a three-on-one rush into his sixth goal of the year when he wristed a shot from the bottom of the right circles just underneath the crossbar to even the contest. His sixth of the season was unassisted and rounded out the second period scoring.

Kaleniecki put the Wranglers in front 4-3 off a scramble in front of Silverthorn, with Donati assisting on Kaleniecki's seventh of the year, which was his fourth game-winner of the season.

The final shots favored the Wranglers 24-18, as Lalande improved to 3-0-0 while Silverthorn dropped to 2-3-3. The Steelheads ended zero-for-seven on the power play ending their nine-game streak with at least a man advantage goal. The Wranglers finished two-for-seven on the power play.
