Salmon Kings Win Eighth Straight Home Game

November 29, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

The Salmon returned to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to face the Phoenix Roadrunners in the first of three games in three nights. The Kings looked to extend their home winning streak to eight games.

A very physical first period was highlighted by Thatcher Bell's sixth goal of the season to stake Phoenix to a 1-0 lead.

The Salmon Kings' Jordan Krestanovich scored a shorthanded goal midway through the period to tie the affair at 1-1. McLeod returned in the second period and laid a hard hit on Phoenix's Corey LeClair. The Roadrunners scored on a power play and the teams went to the dressing room tied at 2-2.

Phoenix pulled ahead 3-2 when Daniel Sisca scored early in the third to put the Roadrunners up 3-2. The Kings would respond when Marc-Andre Bernier snapped a shot past Cody Rudkowsky after receiving a centering pass from Chris St. Jacques. Neither team was able to break the 3-3 tie in regulation so the teams went to overtime.

In the extra session, Wes Goldie took a pass from Ryan Wade and was able to beat Rudkowsky for the overtime winner at the 3:08 mark. Salmon Kings 4 Roadrunners 3.

Victoria went 0/6=0% and Phoenix was 2/5=40% on the power play. Victoria outshot 51-35.

The Salmon Kings return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre the next two nights where they will continue their series versus the Phoenix Roadrunners. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Call 220-7889 for tickets.
