Steelheads Acquire Jake O'Donnell from Sarnia

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads announced today that they have acquired defenceman Jake O'Donnell from the Sarnia Sting in exchange for a fourth round pick in 2016.

O'Donnell was selected by the Sting in the fourth round (61st overall) of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. Last season, the Bowmanville, Ontario native split time with the Sting and the Sarnia Legionnaires of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. In 16 games with the Sarnia Sting, O'Donnell recorded 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists), and 13 points (1 goal, 12 assists) in 42 games with the Legionnaires. Prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, O'Donnell was invited to the U-17 Development Camp where he suited up for Team Black alongside Steelheads' defenceman, Nicolas Hague. He pitched in for 1 goal and 1 assist in three games for Team Black.

During the 2013-14 season, O'Donnell recorded 12 points in 31 games with the Clarington Toros. The 98-born defenceman also had impressive showing at the U-16 Ontario Gold Cup that season, picking up 5 points in as many games for Team OMHA White.
