Chicago Steel News Release
GENEVA, ILLINOIS - In addition to four players chosen to represent the Chicago Steel at the 2022 BioSteel All-American Game, three members of the Steel staff have been selected for the showcase of 2022 NHL Draft eligible talent on Monday, January 17 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., the USHL announced Friday.
Chicago Steel head coach Brock Sheahan will lead Team White while athletic trainer Jim Schroeder and equipment manager Parker Hoffman will support the Team Blue staff in the same roles.
Sheahan, Schroeder and Hoffman join Chicago forwards Jack Harvey, Zam Plante and defenseman Jake Livanavage along with netminder Gibson Homer for the showcase on Monday, Jan. 17 on NHL Network at 4:00 pm ET.
"I am grateful and honored to be asked to coach in the BioSteel All-American Prospects Game," said Sheahan. "I am looking forward to the experience and working with the great players and staff the USHL has to showcase. It should be a lot of fun!"
Sheahan, a Lethbridge, Alberta, native, is in his second full season and third total behind the Steel bench. In his tenure as head coach, Chicago has compiled a total record of 83-18-9-2 in the regular season for a total points percentage of .790, the best in the USHL over that stretch. A season ago, Sheahan led the Steel to their second consecutive Anderson Cup as USHL regular-season champions and the second Clark Cup title in Steel franchise history after a 7-1 playoff run, culminating in a 3-1 series victory in a best-of-five set against the Fargo Force.
Sheahan joined the Steel coaching staff as Associate Head Coach prior to the start of the 2018-2019 campaign before being named head coach on Dec. 1, 2019 following the hiring of Greg Moore by the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
Steel athletic trainer Jim Schroeder has been a part of both Chicago Clark Cup Championship teams and both Anderson Cup clubs since joining the organization before the 2016-2017 season. Prior to his time with the Steel, the Wood Dale, Ill., native spent one season with the Tri-City Storm (2008-2009) and five seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms (2011-2016).
Equipment Manager Parker Hoffman joined the Steel before the 2017-2018 season and has been with the club for their most recent Clark Cup title in 2021 and both Anderson Cups in 2020 and 2021.
The Steel face off against the Green Bay Gamblers for two road contests on Friday, Jan. 7 and Saturday, Jan. 8 at Resch Center in Wisconsin before returning to Fox Valley Ice Arena for Olympics Night on Friday, Jan. 14 and Star Wars Night on Saturday, Jan. 15 with both games slated for a 7:05 pm CT puck drop against the Youngstown Phantoms. After the Saturday showdown, fans are invited to take part in a post-game skate.
Tickets start at just $10 and are available in person at the Steel Box Office at Fox Valley Ice Arena, by phone at 855-51-STEEL and online at chicagosteelhockeyteam.com. The Steel now offer single-game ticket discounts for kids 12 and under and military.
