January 7, 2022 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
After a hot start to the New Year the Fargo Force (10-12-3-1; 24pts) will look to continue their recent success with a big three game weekend on the road. They start the trip down in Nebraska vs. the Omaha Lancers (14-7-3-1; 32pts) followed by a Saturday night matchup vs. the Sioux City Musketeers (14-9-3-1; 32pts) and close out the weekend on Sunday with a 4:05 game vs. the Sioux Falls Stampede (10-15-0-1; 21pts).
The Force went 2-0 last weekend against the Stampede and are 5-1-1 in their last 7 games. They had their highest scoring game of the season last Friday with an 8-2 victory that led to multi point games for four different players.
The Lancers went 1-0-1 last weekend on the road, dropping a game in OT to the Lincoln Stars and securing a 3-2 victory over the Sioux City Musketeers.
The Lancers have posed a problem for the Force so far winning all four matchups this season. Lancers' forwards Garrett Wright (8G-12A) and Michael Cameron (8G-4A) combine for a total of 8 goals against the Force, and 5 of Cameron's 8 total goals this season have been against Fargo.
Force forward Felikss Gavars has been a key factor against Omaha, scoring 3/5 of his goals this season against the Lancer's. He has been out the last few games representing team Latvia in the World Juniors Tournament but will likely be a big factor in the games this weekend.
Following their game in Omaha on Friday the Force head to Sioux City Iowa to take on the Musketeers. The Force are 1-3 against the Musketeers dropping all three of their games on Sioux City home ice.
The Musketeers are 0-2 in their last two games dropping their NYE game to the Lancers on home ice 3-2 and falling to Tri-City on January 2nd, 4-3. Owen McLaughlin (13G-17A) and Charlie Schoen (13G-14A) have been huge for Sioux City this season, and with two shutouts against Fargo back in November netminder Alex Tracy will be a big factor in Saturday night's matchup.
The Force close out the weekend with a 4:05 game vs the Sioux Falls Stampede who they swept in last weekends matchups. First on home ice with a dominant 8-2 victory followed by a 4-1 almost shutout win on Sioux Falls home ice the following night.
Fargo's performance in those two games earned two Force players USHL Player of the Week honors. Netminder Louden Hogg had an outstanding weekend in net stopping 45/48 SOG for a .938SV% and 1.50GAA. Forward Bret Link tallied a 6-point weekend with a goal and 4 assists on Friday night followed by a 5th assist on Saturday. These were Fargo's first POTW so far this season.
The Force are on the road again next weekend for a pair of games vs. Tri-City followed by home games on January 21st and 22nd. Force games can be streamed via HockeyTV and tickets can be purchased via www.ticketmaster.com
