
Steamwheelers take on local coaches in Basketball Jamboree

DAVENPORT, Iowa â Jordan Catholic School is holding a basketball jamboree on Friday March 12, 2004. The event will take place at Jordan Central Gym, which is located at 2901 24th Ave in Rock Island, IL.
Events for the evening begin at 5 p.m. with the dinner line being open. Jordan Boosters will be serving a Lenten special, pizza, and hot dog meals along with other concession items such as pop, popcorn, pretzels, nachos, and candy. Other events throughout the evening include 5th grade boys and girls free throw contests, 6th grade boys and girls knock-out contests, and scrimmages between the 7th grade boys and girls as well as 8th grade boys and girls.
The evening concludes with the Jordan coaches taking to the court against Steamwheelers players at 7:15 p.m. Admission to the jamboree is a donation of nonperishable food items or free-will offerings to benefit area food pantries. Please bring the whole family for an evening of food and fun at Jordan Central Gym.
About Arena Football League
Often recognized as one of the nation's most affordable and fan-friendly sports leagues, the Arena Football League, the second-longest running football league in U.S. history, is in its 18th season. The arenafootball2 (af2) league consists of 25 teams in medium-sized markets with the purpose of training players, coaches and officials for higher levels of football. Several former af2 coaches have joined AFL teams and more than 175 players have advanced to the AFL over the past three years.
Several players have moved on to the NFL from the af2 including the âWheelers standout defensive rush end in 2003, Asa Francis, who last month signed with the Buffalo Bills to play in NFL Europe this spring.
The Steamwheelers are gearing up for their Fifth Anniversary season as one of the charter members of the league. Season tickets are currently on sale starting as low as $54.
