
Knights Announce Offensive and Defensive Coordinators

MACON, Ga. â The Macon Knights announced today the team has finalized their coaching staff with addition of Dave Poinsett and Joseph "Bubba" Diggs. Poinsett and Diggs will join Mike Hold (head coach) to make up the Knights' coaching staff.
The trio of coaches will reunite on the same sideline after serving on the same staff in 2001 with the Augusta Stallions (arenafootball2). During the 2001 season, Hold served as the head coach while Diggs and Poinsett served as assistant coaches. Diggs also served with Hold, in Augusta, as an assistant coach during the 2000 season and as the defensive coordinator during the 2002 season.
Poinsett will serve as the team's offensive coordinator and comes to the Knights after serving as the head coach at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss. from 2002-2004. Prior to becoming the head coach, Poinsett was an assistant coach at Copiah-Lincoln CC. Poinsett has also served as an assistant coach at Mars Hill College (1997-2001) and Newberry College (1996).
Before beginning his coaching career, Poinsett and Hold were teammates at the University of South Carolina. Poinsett played at South Carolina from 1983-1987 where he was a three-year starter as an offensive lineman. Poinsett was named the Gamecocks' Lineman of the Year in 1987 and was named to the school's All-Decade Team for the 1980's.
Originally from Plantation, Fla., Poinsett prepped at Plantation High School where he was an All-State selection and participated in the Florida All-Star Game in 1983.
Diggs enters his fourth season of coaching in af2 and will serve as the defensive coordinator for the Knights. After coaching three seasons with Augusta, Diggs spent the 2003 season with the Columbus Wardogs as the line coach.
Diggs played collegiate football at Clemson University where he was a member of the 1981 National Championship team. Diggs, a tight end, was also a member of three ACC championship teams. Diggs was drafted in 1984 to the Washington Federals of the USFL where he was named the player of the year twice. Diggs had a brief stint with the San Diego Chargers during the 1984 season.
Originally from Hawaii, Diggs prepped at George P. Butler High School in Augusta, Ga.
