Central Valley Coyotes News Release
The Coyotes held their first practice of Training Camp 2004 on Thursday morning. The energy and tempo was very crisp throughout the morning workout.
The team's night practice was full of athletic plays and more conditioning. The squad moved more into 3-on-3 drills and team offense and defense as the night wore on.
Here's a look at some of the highlights from Day 1 at Exhibit Hall One:
Play of the Day: About mid-way through the night session, offensive specialist Marvin Brown lined up at wide receiver during 3-on-3 drills. Brown ran a seam route up the middle of the field separating from the defender and making an acrobatic catch taking him into the endzone.
Player of the Day: Defensive specialist Jermaine Smith got the best of his opponents today during both the morning and night sessions. Smith was flying all around the field breaking up balls and picking off a pass in the night session. Smith play seemed to lift the intensity of the defense throughout the day.
Quote of the Day: Team Operator George Chung on working with the team. "I love football, it's in my veins, if I can come out here and help out our football team, I'm going to do it."
Morris says...: "Our players have had a great attitude. This is as good a group of guys as I've ever coached. They practice hard, they have team spirit and all the players seem to get along with each other. We've had no problems so far. We're just trying to prepare to be the best team we can be."
Atmosphere: After a tough morning practice and the sun beating down heavily in the afternoon the players we're able to relax in the hotel and rest their bodies for the equally tough night practice.
Other Notes: The Coyotes will make their first cuts Saturday March 13th...Practices will continue to be in Exhibit Hall One until Monday, March 14th, after that the team will then move into their home venue at the Selland Arena..
