Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - Despite a season-high eight touchdown passes from QB Joe Brannen, the Barnstormers could not keep pace with the high-powered Quad City offense led by J.J. Raterink and his nine touchdown passes as the Steamwheelers held on for a 67-64 victory before 9,212 fans at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Field.

The loss drops the Barnstormers (3-6) to last place in the Midwest Division, while Quad City (4-5) avenges an earlier season loss to Iowa.

In a game that saw few key defensive stops, the Barnstormers were led by a balanced receiving corps that saw Robert Kilow and Tim Dodge haul in three Brannen passes for scores, while Errick McCown caught two touchdowns to accompany his game high 140 receiving yards.

Raternick led the way for the visiting Steamwheelers, torching the Barnstormers for nine scores and 383 yards. His favorite targets were Kris Peters (123 yards, 4 TDs), Deontrae Johnson (114 yards, 3 TDs), and Jesse Schmidt (123 yards, 2 TDs).

The 'Stormers return home Saturday for a rematch with the Green Bay Blizzard. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm CST at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Sheid Field.
