
Steamwheelers Remain League's Top Team

DAVENPORT, Iowa â The latest arenafootball2 Coaches' Poll was released on Wednesday and it came as no surprise to the Quad City Steamwheelers that they remained the league's top team.
Last weekend the Steamwheelers proved just that with a 47-29 thumping of the Tennessee Valley Vipers, who entered the game ranked second in the polls. The Steamwheelers received 23 of the possible 25 first place votes and a total of 285 points.
Tennessee Valley fell to fourth in the polls with 172 points. Trailing the Steamwheelers by 56 points and jumping from No. 4 were the Wichita Stealth.
The Louisville Fire made one of the biggest jumps in the polls, leaping from No. 7 to No. 3 and trail the Stealth by 12 points.
Also making a big jump were the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers who were No. 11 a week ago, and now sit in the No. 7 position. The Steamwheelers and Pioneers meet this Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. (EST).
Of the 12 teams ranked in the weekly poll, five remain on the Steamwheelers schedule, including the second, third and fourth ranked teams.
The Steamwheelers have started the season with a perfect 3-0 record and remain the af2's top team. Last weekend, the âWheelers thumped, then No. 2-ranked Tennessee Valley 47-29 at The MARK of the Quad Cities. This weekend, the âWheelers travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to take on the seventh ranked Pioneers (2-0). The game will kickoff at 7 p.m. (EST). The âWheelers will then return home the following weekend and host the Green Bay Blizzard at 7:30 p.m.

The arenafootball2 league is in its Fifth Anniversary season and serves as the AFL's developmental league. The arenafootball2 (af2) league consists of 25 teams in medium-sized markets with the purpose of training players, coaches and officials for higher levels of football. Several former af2 coaches have joined AFL teams and more than 175 players have advanced to the AFL over the past three years.
