Stauffacher Earns UHL Player of the Week Honors

Moline, IL-The United Hockey League announced today that Mallards forward Luke Stauffacher has been named the Sher-Wood United Hockey League Player of the Week for the period of December 25th through 31st. Stauffacher recorded nine points (four goals and five assists) in four games last week. His selection marks the second consecutive week that a Mallard has been named UHL Player of the Week. Don Parsons earned the award for the week of December 18th through 24th.

Stauffacher began the week with a two-point game on December 26th vs. Chicago. The Sun Prairie, Wisconsin native scored his ninth goal of the year in the first period and added an assist in the game's final minute.

After being held pointless vs. Muskegon on Friday, Stauffacher exploded for a UHL season high six points on December 30th in Flint. He recorded two goals in the first 5:41 of the Mallards win over Flint. He added single assists in the first and third period while also assisting on both second period shorthanded goals by Justin Chwedoruk.

The scrappy Mallards forward wrapped up his week long scoring binge with a second period goal vs. Muskegon on Sunday at The MARK.

The Mallards are home on Friday night to host the Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Mallards opening home stand of 2007 continues on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. vs. Fort Wayne.
