Generals Make Trade

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League announce today a trade with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder. The Generals sent two players to Bloomington in exchange for forward Shawn Snider and future considerations.

Snider is in his second season of professional hockey and first season in the UHL. Last season he played for the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL where he had 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists in 70 games. Snider began this season with the Kalamazoo Wings before being traded to Bloomington. He had 19 points on four goals and 15 assists in 23 games with Kalamazoo. After being sent to Bloomington he appeared in eight games with the Prairie Thunder and had two goals.

Before beginning his professional career, Snider played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with three teams. His best season was 2000-01 with the Owen Sound Attack when he had 27 goals and 49 assists for 76 points in 61 games. After four years in the OHL he played three seasons at St. Francis Xavier University.

The Generals also get future considerations from Bloomington to complete the deal. In exchange for Snider and the future considerations, the Prairie Thunder get defenseman Dion Hyman and forward Mike Zbriger. Hyman had 14 points on four goals and 10 assists in 35 games for the Generals. Zbriger, who was acquired earlier this season from Chicago, had seven goals and seven assists in 29 games for the Generals. This season Zbriger has 12 goals and seven assists in 33 games.

The Generals are home Friday, January 5 and Saturday, January 6 against the Elmira Jackals. Both games will start at 7:30 p.m. at Perani Arena. There will be a skate with the team following the game on Saturday night. Call the Perani Arena box office at (810) 742-9422 for ticket information.
