Port Huron Flags News Release
(PORT HURON, MICH.) - Port Huron Flags defenseman Pat Sutton and left wing Colt King will play on the Eastern Conference squad in the United Hockey League's All-Star Game, on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Forty Wayne, Ind.
Sutton and King were among a group of seven Flags players that were nominated to the ballot. Each of the UHL's ten teams selected five voters to cast their ballots for the All-Star line up, and the top vote-getters in each category were announced today, from the league office.
Sutton, who signed with the Flags in November, has been a strong defensive presence and has netted three goals and nine assists in 24 games.
King, who was among the first to ink a contract with Port Huron back in July, missed a month of games due to a wrist injury. In 23 games, he has recorded 11 goals and 10 assists. Most recently, he scored three goals on Dec. 30 against the Elmira Jackals, collecting the second hat trick of his career.
The Flags representatives will join an impressive line-up in Fort Wayne. Sutton will defend the Eastern Conference net with Kalamazoo's Jeff Brown and Adam Elzinga, Muskegon's Philippe Plante and Dave Van Drunen, Elmira's Dale Lupul and Flint's Gerard Miller. Tom Askey of the Kalamazoo Wings and Clayton Pool from the Muskegon Fury will trade goalie duties for the team.
King will attack the Western Conference's defense with some of the league's top scorers, including Kory Karlander, Nick Bootland and Justin Cross from Kalamazoo, Todd Robinson, Mike Watt, Elias Godoy and Rustyn Dolyny of Muskegon, Elmira's Brent Cullaton and Scott Wray and Flint's Jeff Zehr. The Eastern squad will be coached by Bruce Ramsay, who assumes bench duties for the first place Muskegon Fury. A complete listing of both teams can be found at www.theuhl.com
