
Staten Island falls to Vermont

[Staten Island, NY] - The Staten Island Yankees began their eight-game homestand with a 2-1 loss to the Vermont Expos.
A home run by Carlos Rosario in the fifth inning was all the runs the Yankees could muster in the loss.
Vermont got on the board with a run in the top of the second with an unearned run. The Expos scored the game-winner in the seventh off of reliever Adam Wheeler on a sacrifice fly.
Eric Hacker went five innings in his second start with Staten Island. He allowed one unearned run on four hits, walking one and striking out two. Wheeler pitched three innings, giving up two hits, striking out four and walking one. It was his third loss of the season.
Enrique Cruz had two hits for the Yankees, one of which a double.
The Yankees and Expos continue their three-game series Wednesday night. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
