-SPIKES CONTINUE LAST HOMESTAND OF YEAR TONIGHT: The State College Spikes return home to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park tonight to roll on with the final four-game homestand of the season in the finale of a two-game series against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The Crosscutters have taken 6 of the 11 meetings between the two teams in 2012, with the Spikes holding a 4-1 mark at home against the Crosscutters. Williamsport leads the all-time series, 45-38.

-LAST GAME: Dilson Herrera, who joined the State College Spikes just two days ago, broke an eighth-inning tie with his first home run in a State College uniform as the Spikes downed the Jamestown Jammers, 3-2, at Russell Diethrick Park on Saturday night in their final road contest of 2012. Herrera sent a 2-2 pitch from Jamestown reliever Sean Donatello over the left field wall for a solo home run to snap the tie. Clario Perez earned the win and Kyle Haynes his eighth save of the year.

-RODIRGUEZ ON THE MOUND FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Left-hander Joely Rodriguez makes his 14th and final start of the year this evening for State College. Rodriguez last faced the Crosscutters on June 19 as part of the Spikes' Home Opener. The Dominican southpaw lasted five innings on that night, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks in a no-decision. Rodriguez has walked just nine batters in 55 2/3 innings since then, but has taken losses in each of his last two outings.

-MARTINEZ GETS THE BALL FOR 'CUTTERS: Right-hander Manny Martinez is now slated to start for the Crosscutters tonight. Martinez has faced the Spikes once already this season as well, starting and getting the win on August 19 against State College at Historic Bowman FIeld. Martinez went five innings that night, giving up three runs on seven hits and two hit batsmen while striking out four. The Venezuelan righty pitched for the VSL Phillies last year, going 3-1 with 2.25 ERA

-HOLT BECOMES 16TH SPIKE TO REACH MAJORS: 2009 State College Spikes Most Valuable Player Brock Holt became the 16th Spike to play in the Major Leagues on Saturday when he drew a walk and scored the tying run in the eighth inning for the Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee. Holt earned promotion from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier in the day when Major League rosters expanded to 40 players. The Stephenville, TX native hit .299 with six home runs and 33 RBI for the Spikes in '09.

-SPIKE MARKS: Tyler Gaffney's 20 times hit by pitch still lead the loop...Samuel Gonzalez is tied for the NYPL lead with 5 sacrifice flies...State College pitchers have allowed just 18 home runs, least in the NYPL...Pitchers Clario Perez (August 30, 20), Kevin Kleis (August 31, 21) and Lance Breedlove (September 1, 22) all celebrated birthdays during this past road trip
