-CROSSCUTTERS TAKE SAWBUCK LEAD: The State College Spikes continue the fifth edition of the SawBuck Series tonight against the Williamsport Crosscutters at Historic Bowman Field. With last night's win, the 'Cutters now lead the all-time series, 26-24, with 13 of those wins coming at home.

-LAST GAME: A Medlar Field at Lubrano Park record, standing room only crowd of 5,775 witnessed the Spikes' 2010 Home Opener, as State College fell to Williamsport, 5-3. The attendance mark broke the previous record of 5,757, set on August 30, 2009 in last year's home finale (also against Williamsport). Miguel Mendez doubled and scored in the contest. 19-year-old Zack Dodson did not earn a decision after allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over four innings of work. Dodson was making just his second pro appearance. Chase Lyles was the lone Spike with a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

-POUNDERS ON THE MOUND FOR SPIKES : Right-hander Brooks Pounders will make his first Spikes start tonight on the hill. Pounders, the Pirates' second-round draft pick in 2009, went 2-2 with a 3.04 ERA in nine appearances for the GCL Pirates in 2009. The Temecula, CA native struck out 91 hitters in 64.1 innings in his senior year of high school, putting up a 9-2 record with a 1.96 ERA. Pounders' father Brad also played pro ball in the Padres system.

-WILLIAMSPORT LOOKS TO PETTIS: The Crosscutters counter with right-hander Eric Pettis on the bump. A native of West Hills, CA, Pettis was drafted by the Phillies in the 35th round just three weeks ago. The three-time All-Big West first-team honoree recorded six saves and was 9-5 with a 3.62 ERA this past spring. Second in the UCI career records with 40 saves, Pettis also made 24 appearances this year with 16 starts and hurled two complete games. He topped the team with 124.1 innings, striking out 89 while walking 27.

-FIVE AND COUNTING: Despite it's status as a park Baseball America named the best in short-season baseball, the Spikes have not won any of the five home openers in franchise history. Williamsport (four) and Jamestown (one) each hold those initial road wins.
