Mahoning Valley Scrappers - Cleveland Indians (13-19) @ State College Spikes - Pittsburgh Pirates (16-16)

Game #33 / Home Game #16 RHP Quinton MIller (0-1, 3.09) vs. LHP Michael Rayl (0-3, 3.25)

-SPIKES CONTINUE FIVE-GAME HOMESTAND: The State College Spikes face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the second game of a two-game mini-series tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Although Mahoning Valley leads the all-time series, 22-19, the Spikes are 13-8 facing the Scrappers in State College.

-LAST GAME: Mahoning Valley held State College to just four hits and took a 4-0 win last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Walker Gourley's double was the lone extra-base hit of the night for the Spikes. Zack Von Rosenberg made the start and took the loss after allowing all four Scrappers runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two. It was Von Rosenberg's third straight five-innning start.

-MILLER BACK ON THE HILL FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Quinton Miller makes the fourth start of his minor league rehabilitation assignment tonight. Miller comes off of a tough-luck loss in Connecticut, where he allowed two unearned runs in the first inning and nothing more over a five-inning stint. Miller has gone nine straight innings without allowing an earned run over his last two appearances.

-SCRAPPERS SEND RAYL TO THE MOUND: Left-hander Michael Rayl gets the ball tonight for Mahoning Valley in his seventh start of the season. Rayl took the loss in his last outing, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings to Brooklyn. The Lake Worth, FL native also struck out three in the defeat. Rayl was the Indians' 15th-round draft pick in 2009 out of Palm Beach Community College, and went 1-2 with a 3.74 ERA for the AZL Indians in '09.

-STREAKING CURRY EARNS NYPL HONORS: Spikes infielder Matt Curry was named the NYPL Player of the Week for July 12-18. Curry has a 17-game on-base streak, and hit .571 (16-for-28) with 7 runs batted in over the period of time for which he won the award.
