-SPIKES START SECOND HALF OF HOMESTAND: The State College Spikes begin a three-game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park tonight. The Spikes will look for their third straight win in the fourth game of a six-game homestand. Mahoning Valley leads the all-time series, 23-21.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes used a two-out scoring binge in the fifth inning to take the lead and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in a 3-1 win over the Jamestown Jammers to achieve a series victory last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Cole White started the surge with a solo homer to left, his second of the year. Adalberto Santos went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Drew Maggi doubled for the second straight game to start his Spikes career.

-SPIKES GET SPARK FROM FUESSER: Left-hander Zac Fuesser gets the ball for the Spikes tonight. The York, SC native has one save on the year, earned against Williamsport on July 3. Fuesser has not faced the Scrappers this year. Last time out, the southpaw allowed one run on three hits and four walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings at Aberdeen.

-SCRAPPERS SEND COOPER TO THE MOUND: Mahoning Valley will go with right-hander Jordan Cooper on the mound tonight. Cooper has gone five or more innings in six of his ten starts, and has won in each of his last three appearances. The Berryton, KS native is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in August, and has allowed just one hit per inning this month.

-SPIKES MAKE MARK FOR PIRATES SYSTEM: Matt Curry, Adalberto Santos and Jhonathan Ramos each made the NYPL All-Star Game on Tuesday, bringing the Pirates' organizational total 23 All-Stars this summer, seventh-most among major league farm systems. Also, the Pirates system currently holds the sixth best winning percentage (.534) among all organizations (third-best among all National League teams).
