-HAYMAKERS HIT THE FIELD AGAINST MUCKDOGS: As part of "What If Night," presented by AmeriServ Bank, the State College Spikes will transform into the State College Haymakers for Friday night's matchup against the Batavia Muckdogs to start a two-game set at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The once and future Spikes will face the Muckdogs for five straight games after a six-game stretch against Mahoning Valley.
-LAST GAME: Colton Cain delivered five dominant innings on the mound, and Chase Lyles smashed the fourth grand slam in club history as the Spikes took a 10-1 victory from the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to earn a series victory at Eastwood Field last night. Lyles joined Miles Durham, Calvin Anderson and Kyle Morgan in the Spikes' grand slam club with his shot to complete the State College scoring in the eighth inning.
-FUESSER LOOKS TO SPARK HAYMAKERS: Left-hander Zac Fuesser gets the ball for his ninth start and 14th overall appearance of the year. Fuesser has one save in relief on the year, and has allowed two runs over his last 8.2 innings on the mound, including a season-high seven strikeouts over four innings at home against Mahoning Valley last time out.
-MUCKDOGS ROLL IN WITH MOSS: Batavia begins the two-game set in State College with right-hander Andrew Moss on the mound. Moss has gone six or more innings on four different occasions this year, and his six wins are tied for fifth in the New York-Penn League. The Piedmont, MO native has a 2.27 ERA at home and a 5.04 ERA on the road.
-WALDRON FIRING BLANKS FOR 'MAKERS: Tyler Waldron has thrown 11 straight shutout frames over his last three starts, his second such streak of ten or more innings on the year.
-CURRY STILL SPICING UP OFFENSE: Matt Curry is second in the New York-Penn League with a .408 on-base percentage, and his five home runs are second on the team.
