Aberdeen, MD - The Baltimore Orioles announced today that 2010 first-round pick Manny Machado will join the Aberdeen IronBirds on Sunday. He'll play in his first game on Monday night, when the IronBirds play host to the Vermont Lake Monsters.
A shortstop from Miami, FL, Machado was the third overall pick in the 2010 draft. He batted .639 with 12 home runs and 56 RBI in 86 at bats his senior year of high school
Machado is expected to be in the IronBirds lineup on Monday. He'll be available to the media following batting practice that day (at about 5:15 PM). Machado will work out with the team Sunday, but will not be in uniform and will not be available to the media.
In addition to Machado, 2009 second-round pick Mychal Givens and 2010 fifth-round pick Connor Narron are expected to join the IronBirds on Sunday.

Narron, son of former big league catcher and manager Jerry Narron, made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Orioles. In 10 games, the infielder hit .226 with four runs batted in.
The IronBirds open up a three-game series with the Lake Monsters on Saturday evening at Ripken Stadium.
