
Stars Win Down the Stretch against Suns

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah - The Salt Lake City Stars won their fourth game in a row, beating the Northern Arizona Suns, 113-112, Friday night in front of a sellout crowd.
The Stars, playing without two of their top scorers in Erik McCree and Georges Niang, fell behind by as many as 11 in the first quarter shooting just .370 from the field. Salt Lake City rallied back to tie up the game with 2:14 in the second frame before heading into the break down 62-56.
The second half featured nine lead changes and nine ties. The Stars shot .476 from the field and .533 from downtown. Salt Lake City led by three with 15.6 seconds left in the game when a three by Danuel House tied the game at 112. After Akeem Springs was fouled by Northern Arizona's Archie Goodwin with 2.8 seconds left in regulation, Springs hit the first free-throw which put the team up for good.
All five starters for Salt Lake City scored in double-figures. Isaiah Cousins' paced the Stars with a game-high tying 24 points. Diamond Stone (23 points, 12 rebounds), Naz Mitrou-Long (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Taylor Braun (16 points, 12 rebounds) all notched double-doubles. Springs finished with 13 points.
House led Northern Arizona with a game-high tying 24 points. Mike Young added 19 points, while Goodwin chipped in 16 points.
The Stars will host the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Monday, March 12. Doors open at 6 p.m. with tipoff at 7 p.m. Single-game tickets may also be purchased online at www.slcstars.com or at the Vivint Smart Home Arena box office.
