Lincoln Stars News Release

Lincoln, Neb. - The Stars will host a jersey auction to benefit Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research following the game against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday, April 2.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder causing progressive weakness and degeneration of muscles. It is a fatal genetic disorder found most commonly in boys - affecting approximately 1 of every 3,500 newborn males with an onset between the ages of 2 and 6.

Former Star and Chicago Blackhawks amateur scout Rob Facca took a personal interest in the cause when his son Louie, 8, was diagnosed in September 2010.

Facca has helped raise money and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy through Parent Project MD (parentprojectmd.com). In addition, he's adopted the message "No Bad Days," striving to remain optimistic and focused in search for a cure.

Players will reveal their game-worn special jerseys on Saturday night, then display them after the game on the north stage where all fans are encouraged to bid.

The Stars held their previous jersey auction on Dec. 5 - raising more than $20,000 for Make-A-Wish Nebraska, an organization geared toward granting the wishes of children facing life-threatening illnesses.

The Stars return to the Ice Box on April 1 against the Waterloo Black Hawks. For tickets and more information log on to lincolnstars.com.
