
Stars Take Game 2 with a 6-3 Win over Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Lincoln Stars (1-1-0) leveled the series at 1-1 thanks to a 6-3 win over the Sioux Falls Stampede (1-1-0) in Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round on Wednesday night from Denny Sanford Premier Center.
For the second-straight night, the Stars jumped ahead early in the game on a goal from forward Logan Jenuwine. At 8:14 of the first period, forward Ashton Calder found Jenuwine in the slot to rip a shot and give the Stars a 1-0 lead. Stampede forward Adam Dawe tied the game, 1-1, at 9:46 on the power play.
An early tally by Stampede forward Nolan Walker on the power play at 1:06 of the second period gave Sioux Falls a 2-1 lead. The Stars came back with three-unanswered goals beginning at 4:31 with a shot from Gustaf Westlund in the right circle, tying the game at 2-2. Stars forward Collin Peters came back less than one minute later at 5:15 to send the Stars ahead, 3-2, and Stars forward Josiah Slavin doubled the advantage, 4-2, at 7:09 with his own goal. Stampede forward Cameron Burke stopped the run at 11:33 on the power play, cutting the lead to 4-3.
The Stars found a conversion on the power play at 2:02 on a shot from forward Casey Dornbach, spreading the lead back to two, 5-3. Stars forward Ashton Calder added one more at 7:59 on a shorthanded break, sealing the victory at 6-3.
Stars netminder Derek Schaedig (1-0-0) halted 27 of 30 shots in the win. Stampede goaltender Mikhail Berdin (1-1-0) saved 37 of 43 shots in the loss, and Jaxson Stauber stopped his lone shot in relief. The Stars and Stampede head to a decisive Game 3 of the Western Conference First Round Series on Thursday, Apr. 19 at 7:05 p.m. from the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
