Birmingham, AL – For the second straight game, Stars bats found the ball. Quite often, in fact. After a season-high 19 hits in a 15-3 win over the Barons on Monday, Huntsville recorded 15 more base hits in Wednesday's 12-5 defeat of Birmingham at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The Stars have racked up 27 earned runs and 34 hits in their last two games.

Ryan Knox led Wednesday's hit parade, going 4-for-5 with four singles, one run batted in and two runs scored. Chris Barnwell added three singles and scored two runs, and J.J. Hardy went 2-for-5 with three runs batted in and one run scored. Kade Johnson launched a two-run homer, singled and scored three runs, and Corey Hart finished 1-for-4 with a double, four runs batted in and a stolen base. Richard Paz singled twice, drove in two and scored one, and Daryl Clark walked three times and scored two runs.

"We have good group of hitters," Huntsville hitting coach Sandy Guerrero said. "When they're patient and get good pitches to hit, this is what happens.

The Stars took control with back-to-back four-run rallies. With one out in the third, Barnwell and Knox singled, then Paz walked to load the bases. Hardy drew a walk to force in a run, and Hart ripped a bases-clearing double to left-center to put Huntsville up, 4-1.

In the fourth, Clark walked and Johnson slammed a two-run homer deep to left-center, this third of the season. Barnwell singled on the infield and Knox singled to right, then they advanced to second on third on Paz's bounce-out to short. Hardy's single scored Barnwell, and Hart's sacrifice fly plated Knox for an 8-1 Stars lead.

All-star lefty Derek Lee (11-3) won his league-high 11th game, tossing six solid innings and allowing two runs on just four hits and no walks while fanning one. Byeong An (2-1) suffered his first loss in his third start in the league, surrendering eight runs on eight hits and three walks in four innings. Stars reliever Ryan Miller tossed a perfect inning of relief, fanning one, and Ken Ray permitted three hits and three runs over the final two innings for Huntsville.
