Lincoln Stars Forward Josiah Slavin vs. the Tri-City Storm

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (33-22-1-1) came alive offensively in a 6-2 win over the Tri-City Storm (29-24-2-2) on Friday night at Viaero Center.
The Storm scored the opening goal at 6:29 thanks to forward Connor McMenamin to take a 1-0 lead. However, Stars forward Josiah Slavin leveled the scoreline, 1-1, at 9:03 with his fourth shorthanded goal of the season. He becomes the eighth Stars player with at least four shorthanded goals in a single season.
After a go-ahead goal by Storm forward Adam Goodsir at 5:19 of the second period, Stars forward Logan Jenuwine tied the game again, 2-2, with persistence crashing the net at 5:53. The Stars took their first lead of the night, 3-2, at 18:55 when forward Dominick Mersch netted a rebound off the left post.
The Stars scored two swift goals early in the third period at 1:38 from forward Casey Dornbach from the low left circle followed by the second of the night by Slavin at 2:23 from the high left circle, spreading the lead to 5-2. Stars forward Devlin McCabe added one more goal at 10:51 on a great passing play with Mason Klee and Collin Peters, setting the score at its final, 6-2.
Stars netminder TomáÅ=A1 Vomá=C4=8Dka (24-18-0) saved 19 of 21 in the win, while Storm goaltender Jake Barczewski (10-12-3) halted 36 of 42 shots in the loss. The Stars and Storm return to the Ice Box on Saturday, Apr. 7 at 7:05 p.m. for Fan Appreciation/Huge Announcement Night.
