Urbandale, IA - Omaha and Des Moines faced off for game one of the weekend series at Buccaneer Arena Friday night. It was the seventh matchup between the two teams this season. The Lancers called on Vinnie Purpura to play in net. Purpura is ranked seventh in the league among goalies with a 2.40 GAA and a .916 SV%. Des Moines started Atticus Kelly, an emergency goalie from St. Thomas Academy.

The Buccaneers got on the board first in the opening frame with a goal from Josh Luedtke. Minutes later Jack Randl and Mathieu De St Phalle came in the zone on a two-on-one. Randl passed the puck to De St Phalle who scored on Atticus Kelly. The game stayed tied 1-1 going into the first intermission.

In the second period, Christian O'Neill got the Lancers their first lead of the game. Omaha kept the 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

In the third period, Des Moines pulled Kelly for the extra attacker. With 5-seconds left, Ethan Price shot the puck and scored on the empty net. The Lancers took the win in Des Moines, 3-1.

The Lancers are now 6-1-0-0 against the Buccaneers. Omaha improves to 36-16-2-3 with 77 points.

Purpura stopped 19 of the 20 shots that he faced.
