LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (23-20-1-1) scored early and often in a 5-1 win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (17-22-6-1) on Saturday night at The Ice Box.

The Stars found life at the tail end of the period from forward Tristan Ashbrook with two tallies in the frame. At 15:53, Ashbrook found a seam from the blue line as a power play expired to take a 1-0 lead. Then, at 18:13, Ashbrook was led on a breakaway by forward Philippe Lapointe for his second of the night to double the lead, 2-0.

Stars defenseman Eero Terî=A4vî=A4inen continued the scoring at 3:26 of the second period with a shot from the blue line to triple the lead, 3-0. The Stars added two more goals on the power play starting with a tip by forward Dominick Mersch at 6:33 as well as a one-time shot from forward Philippe Lapointe at 19:21, stretching the lead to 5-0.

The RoughRiders broke through in the third period thanks to forward Nathan Smith at 11:27, but the Stars held firm to walk away with a 5-1 win. Stars netminder Tomáœ=A1 Vomá=C4=8Dka (17-16-0) halted 25 of 26 shots in the win. Blake Pietila (10-10-3) stopped 15 of 19 shots in the loss, and Jiri Patera saved 19 of 20 shots in relief.
