MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols fell to the Youngstown Phantoms, 2-1, at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena on Saturday night.

Madison (19-22-2-2) is ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference with 42 points. Youngstown (24-18-4-1) is tied for second place in the Eastern Conference with 53 points.

Defenseman Jake Gingell picked up his third goal of the season to give Youngstown a 2-1 lead at 12:56 of the middle frame. Right wing Jack Malone carried the puck into the Capitols zone and over to the right wing half-wall before pealing back around and passing the puck to Gingell at the center point. Gingell's slap shot travelled through bodies and over the goal line for the go-ahead goal.

The Phantoms struck first with center Curtis Hall's 12th goal of the season at 7:57 of the opening period. Right wing Eric Esposito carried the puck behind the Capitols cage and fed a pass out front to Hall for a one-timer that beat Capitols goaltender Dryden McKay for the 1-0 lead.

Defenseman Colin Felix tied the game at 1-1 with his fifth goal of the season at 8:11 of the second period. Skating on the power play, left wing Mick Messner cycled the puck to Felix at the center point. Felix blasted a slap shot off the crossbar and into the net to tie the game.

McKay (17-17-1-2) took his 17th loss of the season with 32 saves on 34 shots. Phantoms goaltender Ivan Prosvetov (15-9-2-0) earned his 15th win of the season as he stopped 31-of-32 shots.

Madison went 1-for-5 on the power play. Youngstown was 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

Notables: The Capitols are on a five-game losing streak...Defenseman Colin Felix picked up his fifth goal of the season...Felix ranks second in the USHL with 133 penalty minutes this season.

The Capitols take on the Green Bay Gamblers in a Wisconsin Cheese Cup game, presented by Odyssey Brands, at 3:05 p.m. at the Resch Center on Sunday, March 4.
