Stars Lose Battle to Warriors, 126-114

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars (3-8), the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, dropped their third and final game of their homestand, falling 126-114 to the Santa Cruz Warriors (5-5) (Golden State Warriors Affiliate) on Tuesday night at the Maverik Center.

The Stars offense was powered by 59 points off the bench. Michael Devoe led Salt Lake City, recording 19 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks, as a reserve. Utah Jazz two-way player Jason Preston, followed closely behind, notching a double-double on 15 points and 12 assists. Meanwhile, Utah Jazz assignment player Taylor Hendricks, also put up 15 points, grabbing an additional seven rebounds for the Stars. Utah Jazz two-way center Micah Potter, scored 14 points, collected seven rebounds, and blocked two shots, in his second-straight game off the bench.

Santa Cruz guard Kendrick Davis paced the Warriors with game highs of 35 points and 16 assists. Golden State Warriors two-way forward Usman Garuba, added a double-double of his own , securing 24 points paired with 14 rebounds, owning an additional four steals.

The Stars and Warriors took off trading baskets, seeing five lead changes in the first quarter. However, Santa Cruz took the lead at the 7:05 mark, before Salt Lake City set out to trim it to a 32-29 deficit. In the second quarter, the Stars shot .600 from the floor, yet the Warriors' hold on the lead only increased as they sank six three pointers and entered the break up 68-60 at halftime.

Despite a 33-point contribution from the Stars' players during the fourth quarter, the team could not overcome the Warriors, falling 126-114 to end their homestand.

Salt Lake City returns to action on Friday, with a quick single-game road trip out to El Segundo, CA, where they'll take on the South Bay Lakers (Los Angeles Lakers Affiliate). The contest tips off at 8:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on Tubi.
