
Stars Fall Short to Spurs

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars (3-7), the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, dropped their second-straight game at home, falling 112-101 to the Austin Spurs (6-5) (San Antonio Spurs Affiliate), on Monday night at the Maverik Center.
The Stars offense was led by Utah Jazz two-way guard *Johnny Juzang*, who scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the Regular Season. Utah Jazz assignment player *Brice Sensabaugh*, scored 20 points, along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Utah Jazz two-way guard *Jason Preston*, added 15 points, nine assists, and six rebounds in 30 minutes of action. *Taevion Kinsey* rounded out the leaders, notching 15 points, including three made three-pointers, to go with eight rebounds in his return to the starting lineup.
Salt Lake City jumped out to another fast start, taking leads of 10-0 and 22-5 in the first quarter. Austin responded with a 17-0 run of their own, before a Nick Ongenda putback gave the Stars a 24-22 lead to end the first frame. The Spurs and Stars traded baskets throughout the second quarter. While Austin managed to grab a brief two point lead, Salt Lake City pushed ahead as they entered the break leading 54-51, after shooting .591 from the field.
In the third, the Stars knocked down five threes, and shot at a near .490 mark from the field. However, seven turnovers helped the Spurs cut the deficit to two at 80-78, as the final quarter of play loomed. In the final frame, Austin could not miss, shooting .684 from the field as they pulled away from Salt Lake City, who made just seven of their 22 shots in the fourth. The Spurs claimed the victory over the Stars, 112-101.
Austin forward RaiQuan Gray, led Austin with a game high 35 points, to go with five rebounds and six assists. San Antonio Spurs two-way guard David Duke Jr., added 17 points and seven rebounds in his 32 minutes of action.
Salt Lake City has a quick turnaround, taking on the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State Warriors Affiliate) Tuesday at the Maverik Center to complete their homestand. The contest tips off at 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN+.
