
Stars Drop Tight Contest to Blue

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars fell to the Oklahoma City Blue 111-108 on the second night of a back-to-back at Bruin Arena on Saturday night.
The Stars were paced by Utah Jazz assignment player Nigel Williams-Goss, who finished with a game-high 21 points, six assists and three rebounds. Miye Oni, currently on assignment from the Utah Jazz, posted 18 points on 7-of-13 (.538) from the field and 4-of-7 (.571) from three.
All five starters finished in double figures for the Blue, led by Kadeem Jack who tallied 19 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Abdul Gaddy (15 points and 12 assists) and Vincent Edwards (11 points and 14 rebounds) added double-doubles for Oklahoma City.
The first quarter was a low-scoring affair with the Blue taking a two-point lead (17-15) after one period. Salt Lake City outscored Oklahoma City 37-26 in the second quarter to take a nine-point (52-43) lead at intermission. The Blue opened the third quarter on a 17-0 run and took a three-point advantage heading into the final frame. There were two lead changes and three ties in the final 12 minutes of action with both teams posting 32 points.
In tonight's game, the Stars wore special purple mountain jerseys that are currently being auctioned off, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Larry H. Miller Charities, at 32auctions.com/starsclassicjerseys.
Salt Lake City will complete its season-long six-game homestand against the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami HEAT affiliate) on Monday, Feb. 3 at Bruin Arena. The game, which tips off at 7 p.m., will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.
