(Calgary) – Today, Calgary Stampeders' Senior VP of Football Operations/Head Coach, Tom Higgins, announced the free agent signing of Linebackers Cornelius Anthony, Jude Waddy and Defensive Lineman Michael Josiah.

As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Both Cornelius and Jude bring with them a great amount of background experience," stated Defensive Coordinator Denny Creehan. "Waddy is a very intelligent and instinctive player while Anthony is an explosive linebacker who will compete at the inside position."

"Josiah is a big, strong athlete who comes off the edge very quickly," stated Defensive Line Coach Casey Creehan. "I'm excited to have him in camp and look forward to seeing him progress on the defensive line."

Cornelius Anthony

Entering his first season the Stampeders ... originally signed as a free agent on May 10, 2005 ... has played with both the Denver Broncos (2004) and San Francisco 49'ers (2002-2004) in the NFL ... prior to joining the 49'ers Anthony was assigned to play with Barcelona Dragons in NFL Europe (2002) ... originally signed by the Washington Redskins as a non-drafted free agent in April of 2001.

2004

Was released by the 49'ers on July and was picked up shortly after by the Denver Broncos ... released by Broncos on September 6.

2003

Played 7 games with the 49'ers ... recorded 3 tackles and assisted on one.

2002

Played in 10 games, finished season with 10 special team tackles (four solo) ... his biggest game came against St. Louis where he recorded on tackle and three special team tackles ... allocated to Barcelona Dragons in NFL Europe ... led team in tackles with 50 (40 solo) ... also posted two sacks, two passes defensed, one forced fumble, one interception (eight yards) and eight special team tackles.

College

Finished career at Texas A&M with 288 tackles, six sacks and one forced fumble ... recorded 76 tackles and two sacks as a senior ... in 1999, posted career-high 18 tackles in game against Nebraska.

Jude Waddy

Linebacker

College: William & Mary

HT: 6'2" WT: 225 lbs

Entering his first season the Stampeders ... originally signed as a free agent on May 10, 2005 ... played with several NFL teams including with the San Diego Charges (2003), Denver Broncos (2002), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2001) ... the majority of Waddy's time was spent with the Green Bay Packers (1998-2000) ... he also played with the Berlin Thunder in 2002.

2003

Signed with San Diego Chargers on January 21st ... was released on December 17.

2002

Went to training camp with the Denver Broncos ... released prior to the start of the regular season ... played with he Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe ... recorded 32 tackles, two sacks, three passes defensed and five tackles on special teams for the Thunder.

1999

Became Green Bay's starting weak-side linebacker midway through the year when Brian Williams suffered season-ending knee injury ... had career high 73 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one pass defended and four tackles on special teams ... had 11 tackles at Tampa Bay on Dec. 26 ... tied for team high with eight tackles at Chicago Dec. 5 ... racked up career-high 12 tackles and a sack at Dallas Nov. 14.

1998

Collected six special team tackles ... notched first career sack against New York Giants Oct. 15.

College

Four-time all-conference selection ... earned first-team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference accolades as senior ... garnered second-team All-Yankee Conference honours as junior and third-team recognition as sophomore and frosh ... named Rookie of Year by school's Quarterback Club in 1994.

Noteworthy

Worked with Global Development Service for Youth, organization based in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, teaching computer skills, including programming and repair, to disadvantaged and incarcerated youth ... graduated with degree in Kinesiology ... attended Suitland High School in Suitland earning three letters in wrestling, capturing country, county and regional titles as senior.

Michael Josiah

Was a two-year letter winner at Hoover (Ala.) high school ... only played two years of prep football before attending Louisville ... registered 10 sacks during his senior season at Hoover ... he and his family spent six years in Kenya, and he was a member of Kenya's under 18 national rugby team which finished second in the African Championship ... also played soccer while overseas... a letterman in track and field at Hoover High, participating in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, triple jump and discus ... majored in communications.
