Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Renegades Football Club will hold its training camp at Kemptville College, a campus of the University of Guelph, for the fourth consecutive year in preparation for the 2005 Canadian Football League season.

The team announced that camp will be staged in Kemptville, about 35 minutes from Ottawa, at the historic and picturesque school from check-in day (May 27) until June 17, a day after the Renegades' final pre-season game against the Montreal Alouettes.

"We are extremely pleased to be going back to Kemptville for the fourth straight year," said Joe Paopao, head coach and general manager of the Renegades. "It boiled down to having a great location that is distraction free, which is what you want in training camp. The focus and priority of the staff is football and the campus is the right size for that."

The team stays in the residences at the college, dines in the cafeteria, do all meetings in the classrooms and available theatre areas on the campus and the twin fields for practices.

Medicals and physicals are scheduled for May 28; day one of practices on May 29, the first cut-down date (to a 55-man roster) is June 11 and the final 40-man final roster will be needed to be set by June 18.

"We are thankful for the hospitality at University of Guelph, Kemptville College and for the hard work the staff puts in there," continued Paopao. "And we're excited to get on the field and get set for the 2005 season!"
