Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho (December 19, 2005) - 17 days after the Idaho Stampede signed 6-8 forward Josh Davis, the former CBA Most Valuable Player returns to the team's active roster. Davis, who was named the CBA MVP and Newcomer of the Year in 2004, was recently waived by the Milwaukee Bucks. He spent the entire 2004-2005 season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
On December 2, the Idaho Stampede signed Davis to a CBA contract after he was released from the Bucks. However, a mere 4 hours later, Davis received word that he would be needed again by the Milwaukee Bucks and never suited up for the Stampede. On December 5, Davis was officially signed by the Bucks and put on the Stampede's Inactive (NBA) Reserve. On December 15, the Bucks released Davis for the second time this season. The Stampede held the rights to Davis and decided to re-sign him. In 3 games with the Bucks, Davis played 11 minutes, had 3 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot.
Davis played for the Stampede during the 2003-2004 season and should be in the line-up Tuesday night against the Gary Steelheads. In 40 games with the Stampede, Davis averaged 18.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game on his way to winning the MVP and Newcomer of the Year awards. In March of 2004 he also signed a 10 day contract with the Atlanta Hawks and led the Stampede to the CBA championship game.
Davis played with the 76ers during the 2004-2005 season. He spent some time on the injured reserve list and played in 42 regular season games and 2 playoff games. He averaged 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
In college, Davis played four years at Wyoming. He left Wyoming as the 2nd leading all time rebounder and was also second in steals, and blocked shots and ranks 13th in scoring. Davis is originally from Salem, OR.
