Manchester, May 3, 2011 --- St. Mary's Bank has once again partnered with the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, to support the New Hampshire Food Bank and The Mom's Place at Catholic Medical Center. St. Mary's Bank donated $100 for every goal that the Monarchs scored on their home ice during the 2010-2011 season to these two worthy charities. The Monarchs scored 133 goals this season, resulting in a total contribution to the New Hampshire Food Bank and to The Mom's Place from St. Mary's of $13,600. Last season, St. Mary's Bank donated $11,800 for the 112 goals that found the back of the net in favor of the Monarchs.

On Friday, April 8, during the second intermission of the Monarchs game against the Adirondack Phantoms, Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach from St. Mary's presented checks to Melanie Gosselin, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank, and Kelly Martin, Nurse at The Special Care Nursery at Catholic Medical Center.

The New Hampshire Food Bank serves as the only food bank in the state. Last calendar year, the Food Bank distributed over 6.5 million pounds of donated food to 412 of their registered agencies consisting of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, and senior citizen homes throughout New Hampshire.

The Mom's Place at Catholic Medical Center is a family-centered birthing program designed especially by and for new moms. They are dedicated to providing their newborns with a wide range of specialized care, including the state-of-the-art neonatal facility, The Special Care Nursery.

Champagne says that St. Mary's appreciates the vital role these two organizations play in the community. "As the only food bank in NH, The New Hampshire Food helped feed over 127,000 NH residents last year." He notes, "CMC's The Mom's Place is a special birthing program that focuses on the Mom and child to create a special experience."

"St. Mary's Bank and the Manchester Monarchs have worked hard all season toward supporting these charitable efforts, and for that, we're very grateful to both organizations," said Gosselin, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank.

"We are proud to partner with St. Mary's Bank to help with two great organizations in Monarchs Country," said Kimberly Mueller, Monarchs Vice President of Public Affairs. "Our community continuously amazes me with their generosity and thoughtfulness to those in Manchester."
