Peoria Rivermen News Release
SCP Worldwide and St. Louis Blues Chairman, Dave Checketts announced today that the club has signed John Davidson, President of Hockey Operations, to a multi-year contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"John was our first hire as an ownership group" said Checketts. "We believed then and still believe now in his ability to rekindle the passion of the Blues in St. Louis. Along the way John has played a lead role in helping to rebuild the St. Louis Blues both on and off the ice. He became the face of the franchise at a time when it was dearly needed and his hands have been on the wheel steering it in the right direction ever since. We feel that we have one of the preeminent front offices in the National Hockey League and that The Blues are now well positioned for long term success. Congratulations to John and Diana and thank you for all you have brought to St. Louis."
"My family and I are truly excited and blessed" said Davidson. "Since day one, we have been embraced by St. Louis and have developed an emotional bond with this City and our fans, who are the lifeblood of this franchise. I would like to thank Dave Checketts and Mike McCarthy who saw it fit to offer me this job almost five years ago. They have given me great guidance ever since but most importantly, they have allowed us to develop a plan, have faith in it and stay the course. With the help of Larry Pleau, Doug Armstrong, Al MacInnis and the rest of the hockey operations staff, we have been able to move the franchise in the right direction, headed for great things. My family and I look forward to being part of The Blues for many years to come."
