Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, IA - Saints defenseman Lucas St. Louis has been named the USHL's Defenseman of the Week for his performance in the Saints' three wins last weekend.
St. Louis made his presence felt on the power play this weekend, something he has done consistently throughout the season. Entering the weekend, St. Louis' nine power-play goals were still the fifth-most in the league despite missing 19 games with an injury.
In the second period of Saturday's win over Green Bay, St. Louis scored his 10th power-play goal of the season. After Green Bay scored shortly after, St. Louis had the response for the Saints, converting on a rebound for his second power-play goal of the period.
During the middle frame of Sunday's win over Chicago, St. Louis scored his third power-play goal of the weekend to extend the Saints' lead to 4-0. Then, he blasted home another later in the period for his fourth power-play goal in a pair of games. He finished the weekend with four goals on nine shots.
St. Louis is tied for second in the USHL with 13 power-play goals. He has 14 tallies overall. St. Louis and the Saints played three complete games last weekend, with St. Louis logging a +2 rating during the team's three wins.
This is St. Louis' second full-season in the USHL with the Fighting Saints. He had just one power-play goal in his first full campaign. With his four power-play tallies last weekend, St. Louis is now tied with Zemgus Girgensons and Jake Sondreal for second all-time in modern Saints history at 14 power-play goals. Johnny Gaudreau and Max Montes are tied at the top with 15.
St. Louis is set to suit up in his 100th game for the Fighting Saints when they host the USA NTDP U18s on Friday.
