St. Lawrence Sniper Signs with Renegades

Richmond, VA – The Richmond Renegades have signed rookie center Russ Bartlett to a contract for the 2002-'03 season. Bartlett is the fourth rookie signed by the ‘Gades.

Bartlett joins the ‘Gades from St. Lawrence University. Bartlett played two seasons with the Saints after transferring from Boston University. Russ scored 20 goals in two seasons at BU and was the Terriers leading freshman scorer. Bartlett sat out a season following his transfer then exploded as a junior at St. Lawrence. Russ racked up 18 goals and 43 points while helping the Saints to an ECAC playoff title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Bartlett was one of the Saints assistant captains as a senior.

Bartlett, a New Hampshire native, is the all time leading scorer at Phillips Exeter where he played prep school hockey. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs following his senior year at Exeter. "We expect Russ will be an impact player," said Renegades Head Coach Gord Dineen. "Russ was an outstanding scorer and leader at the college level," Dineen added.

Bartlett is the eighth player signed by the Renegades for the upcoming season. He joins Jamie Herrington, Peter Hogan, Scott Crawford, Ian Turner, Brian Goudie, Dan Vandermeer, and Richard Pitirri.

The ‘Gades open the 2002-'03 season Friday, October 11 at Trenton. Richmond opens at home on Friday, October 18 vs. Charlotte. Season tickets are now on sale for the Renegades 2002-'03 season. For more information please call the Renegades office at 643-7825.
