St. Cloud Shuts out Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay, Canada - St. Cloud (14-12) picked up its first shutout win of the season, 6-0 against (6-20) Thunder Bay. Zach Lauzon (Concordia St. Paul) pitched six strong inning to earn his first victory of the season.

Chad Bible (San Diego State) got the Rox on the board in the top of the second inning as he scored from third base on a wild pitch.

The scoring would continue in a big way in the third inning, as St. Cloud loaded the bases with no outs. They would score three runs on a walk, a hit by pitch, and a sac-fly from Noah Hill (BYU), who made his season debut. He caught the entire game.

St. Cloud would score a run in the seventh inning on an error and then on a Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) RBI in the top of the ninth.

Thunder Bay had a scoring chance in the bottom of the seventh inning but couldn't push any runs across with the bases loaded.

After Lauzon tossed six innings, Erik Martinez (UC-Berkeley) pitched the seventh and eighth innings. Bobby Gauvreau (Minnesota State-Mankato) closed the game in the ninth inning.

St. Cloud goes to Mankato tomorrow with a 7:05 first pitch time. The Rox then return home Tuesday and will be at the Rock Pile through Saturday.
