Fondy Holds on for 5-4 Win over Kenosha

KENOSHA, WI- The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (15-9) improved their road record to .500 on the road in a 5-4 win over the Kenosha Kingfish (7-17).

Sam Hubbe(Butler) got the start on the mound for the Dock Spiders and retired the side in the first two innings. The St. Charles, IL native would finish the night throwing 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 ER, 2 walks, and dished out 4 strikeouts on 25 batters he faced.

Chris Ayers(Indiana State) led things off with a lead off triple to get the inning on a positive start. With Ayers standing on 3rd, Andrew Bullock(Western Carolina) would send him home for the first run of the game with the sacrifice fly to center field. Two straight walks would put two Dock Spiders on the bases with Mitch Boe(Iowa) up at the plate. Boe ripped one into right field that sent home the second run of the ball game. The other run of the inning for Fondy would be recorded on an error.

Down 3-0 heading into the the bottom of the 3rd, the Kingfish were able to pick up two runs decreasing the deficit for the home team to one.

Sam Cohen (UC Santa Barbara) led things off in the 5th with a double. Cohen would finish the night going 2/4 with his other hit coming in the 8th. In the 5th Fondy would increase the lead 4-2 when Cohen came into score on a sacrifice fly.

Kenosha would would make things interesting when they were able to belt a one run shot out of the park to bring the deficit back to one.

Fondy tacked on the insurance run in the 8th inning when Cohen ripped an RBI single into the outfield whereAlex Henwood(Nebraska) would come into score for the 5th run of the ball game. Despite a late push from the Kingfish in front of a crowd of 3,118 people the Dock Spiders were able to close things out.

Fond du Lac will be back at Simmons Field with the first pitch set for 4:05.
