St. Cloud Rox Take Down Duluth Thursday, 6-2

St. Cloud, Minn. - *The St. Cloud Rox and the Duluth Huskies wrapped up a two game series in St. Cloud and a three game series overall Thursday night as the Rox won 6-2. With the win St. Cloud goes 2-1 in their series with Duluth.

It was all St. Cloud in the first inning as they started the inning taking three up and three down from the Huskies. The Rox got the bottom half of the inning started as Clay Williamson earned a walk on five pitches with one out. Daniel Comstock followed with a single putting Williamson into scoring position. The bases would be loaded for St. Cloud as Luke Weber was walked on five pitches as well. Chris Paul took the Rox to a 1-0 lead off a single scoring Williamson and Vincent Jackson followed with another single for a 2-0 lead.

An error by the Huskies' third baseman brought in St. Cloud's third run of the game and put Dustin Breshears on first keeping the bases loaded. Devin Pearson recorded the third walk of the inning scoring Paul for a 4-0 lead over Duluth. The Rox' final run would come as Blake Headley grounded out to first and was putout allowing Jackson to score making it a 5-0 game.

In the next two innings there were only two hits allowed by both teams combined.

In the bottom of the fourth the Rox extended their lead scoring one making it a 6-0 game. Williamson led off the inning reaching first on an error by the Huskies' shortstop and later stole second. Paul would send Williamson home as he singled on two outs extending their lead.

Scoring was stagnant for the next four innings until the top of the ninth when the Huskies put up two runs off a home run by Alex Wojciechowski.

Adam Maxon would come into the game for starting pitcher Lucas Long inheriting two outs. Maxon would face one to get the strikeout ending the game with a 6-2 victory for the Rox. Long pitched a total 8.2 innings allowing only four hits to record the win. He moves his season record to 3-0 on the mound for the Rox.

The St. Cloud Times Rox' Player of the Game is Lucas Long. Long started on the mound for St. Cloud pitching 8.2 innings for his third win of the season.

The St. Cloud Rox (23-27, 9-6 Second Half) will cap off a home stretch with a two game series against the Alexandria Blue Anchors on Friday and Saturday. Game times are slated for 7:05 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. respectively.

Post-game Fireworks will take place on Friday, July 19 presented by HealthPartners Central Minnesota Clinics.

The Rox final game of the week will be on Saturday, July 20 as they introduce Ram's Grand Slams and Body Slams presented by Ram Trucks and Brandl Motors. The American Wresting Federation (AWF) will have a post-game event outside of Joe Faber Field for all fans to watch.
