Mallards Sneak by Bullfrogs to Even Series

The Mallards hung on for a 6-5 victory over the Bullfrogs at Warner Park on Thursday, evening the three game series at 1-1.

For a third consecutive night the Bullfrogs took an early lead in the first inning. Jimmy Coady walked to begin the game and later came around to on a Madison error. The Mallards had six errors on the night.

The 'Frogs tacked on another run in the second inning on an RBI single from Coady, driving in Trevin Sonnier.

The Mallards, who boast the division's most productive offense, added three runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. All runs were earned to starting pitcher Garrett Harrison, who pitched through the fifth inning and took a no decision.

The middle innings were full of scoring. The Bullfrogs tied the game in the fifth inning with an RBI sacrifice fly from Tripp Martin. The Mallards then brought home three more runs, all off of reliever Josh Daniels, to take a 6-3 lead.

The Bullfrogs tightened it up in the seventh inning. Ryan Drobny pounded his third home run of the season to cut the Mallards lead to just one, 6-5.

Reliever Hunter May shut down the Bullfrogs the rest of the way however, earning his 11th save of the season in a 6-5 Madison victory.

On the other side of the mound, RHP Calen Rohrman pitched two scoreless innings to close it out for the Bullfrogs in his Northwoods League debut.

Christian Calibuso (2-1) earned the victory. Daniels (0-1) took the loss in his Bullfrogs debut.
