
Squadron Win Fourth Straight at Home, Take Down Memphis 119-97

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron notched their fourth-straight win at home, this time a 199-97 win over the Memphis Hustle in game one of a back-to-back series at Legacy Arena. The two teams will face off again tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. CST.
The Squadron led by as most as 25 in the game, making a 65-point second-half push compared to the Hustle's 38. Birmingham got the edge on the glass, recording a season-high 19 offensive rebounds that led to 23 second chance points along with a season-high 56 total rebounds.
Pelicans assignment players, center Jaxson Hayes and forward Trey Murphy III, gave the Squadron a lift in the contest as they both notched a double-double. Hayes finished with 17 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds, while adding two assists, three steals and five blocks in the game. Murphy finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals in 34 minutes.
Guard Cameron Young came off the bench and led the way for the Hustle offensively, recording 20 points, three assists and three rebounds. The Hustle's difficulties stemmed from a high turnover total, committing 21 total turnovers that led to 27 points for Birmingham.
Guard Jared Harper logged a team-high in points for the XXth time this season, totaling 23 points on 7-of-13 attempts from the field including 5-of-7 from behind the arc. The Mableton, Georgia native is now shooting .403 from the three point line this season on 33-of-81 attempts, which ranks third in the G League among players with at least 75 attempts.
The Squadron play will rematch the Hustle again Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. CST, their last game before heading to Las Vegas for the NBA G League Showcase.
