
Squadron Acquire Samford Grad Josh Sharkey

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron announced today that the team has acquired guard Josh Sharkey.
Sharkey, 5-10, 170, returns to Birmingham to join the Squadron after spending the last two seasons overseas in Germany (2020-21) and Poland (2021-22). Just before joining the Squadron, Sharkey also played a game in January with the Delaware Blue Coats, the Philadelphia 76ers G League affiliate.
Over his two years overseas, Sharkey played in 32 games (20 starts). Last season in Poland, Sharkey averaged 10.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 14 games.
The Philadelphia, Pa. native played his college ball at Samford University (2016-20). As a senior for the Bulldogs, Sharkey led the Southern Conference in scoring (18.0) and assists (7.2), and ranked second in the conference and sixth in the nation in steals (2.7).
Birmingham's roster now stands at 12, including two two-way players.
