Knicks Complete Season Sweep of Charge 116-100

CLEVELAND, OH - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, took care of the Cleveland Charge 116-100, on Tuesday evening at Wolstein Center. With the victory, Westchester is currently tied for seventh place in the Eastern Conference and trails the College Park Skyhawks by one game for the final spot in the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs. Westchester must win its final two games in tandem with College Park losing its last three for Westchester to clinch a postseason spot.

Dewan Hernandez (returning rights) led the Knicks (16-14) with 30 points and 15 rebounds for his 15th double-double and fifth game with at least 30 this season. Louis King (returning rights) continued his superb play, dropping 24 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Feron Hunt (Two-Way) chipped in with 16 points as well. Coming off the bench, Tra Holder (available player pool) did a little bit of everything with 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists. MJ Walker (Affiliate) put in 10 points, with the Westchester bench outscoring the Cleveland bench 34-0 overall.

Cleveland (6-24) was led by 32 points from Kyle Guy. RJ Nembhard Jr. went for 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Tacko Fall finished with 26 points and 16 rebounds.

The Knicks scored six straight points right out of the gate, and took their first double-digit lead, 15-4, nearly three minutes later. Hernandez scored 14 points on 7-7 shooting in the first, with the guests leading 37-27 after one.

Westchester continued to maintain a comfortable advantage in the second, going up by 20, 59-39, with 5:03 remaining in the period. After the hosts cut the deficit to 12 with 1:40 to play in the half, the visitors hit three consecutive triples to push their lead to 70-49 at the break.

With the Knicks up 83-61 at the 6:03 mark of the third, the Charge scored 12 unanswered points to get back in the game, cutting the deficit to ten. The teams went on to trade baskets to finish the quarter with a Westchester 92-80 advantage.

Cleveland scored four straight points to get within single digits, 92-84, to start the fourth. The Knicks quickly answered with a 9-0 run to drive the lead back up to 101-84 with 7:20 left to play. The visitors did not let up the rest of the way, preserving a substantial advantage to close the 16-point victory.

The Knicks will return home to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for their penultimate matchup of the regular season on Thursday, March 31 at 7 PM ET.
