Springfield, MA. Aug. 9, 2010 - The Springfield Armor open their season in the NBA Development League on Friday, Nov. 19th at 7 p.m. EST when they travel to play the Erie BayHawks at the Tullio Arena. They return to the MassMutual Center for their home opener on Friday, November 26th at 7 p.m. as they take on the Maine Red Claws in the first game of a back to back weekend showdown.
The Armor-Erie contest on November 19th is the first of 50 regular season games for Springfield Armor, 24 of which will take place at the MassMutual Center in Downtown Springfield. The Armor will also take part in the 2011 NBA D-League Showcase that will take place from Jan. 10-13 at The South Padre Island Convention Centre in South Padre Island, Texas. Also highlighting the 2010-11 NBA D-League Schedule is the fifth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game and the Dream Factory skills competition, which will take place as part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas at NBA All-Star 2011 in Los Angeles.
This season, the Armor home schedule features mostly Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday games with 23 out of the 24 falling on one of those days, including the home opener on November 26th. Out of those 21 days, 5 games fall on Thursday nights, 6 games fall on Friday nights, 10 games fall on Saturday evenings and afternoons and 2 games fall on Sundays.
"Our home schedule this year is very conducive to what we are trying to do here in Springfield, and that is providing affordable family entertainment," said Springfield Armor General Manager Alex Schwerin. "Having the majority of our games on weekends gives families the opportunity to come out and enjoy each other in a fun and exciting environment."
For the second consecutive year, the NBA D-League will feature two conferences, East and West, with the Texas Legends replacing the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Western Conference. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Dakota Wizards, Erie BayHawks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Iowa Energy, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce and Springfield Armor, while the Western Conference includes the Austin Toros, Bakersfield Jam, Idaho Stampede, New Mexico Thunderbirds, Reno Bighorns, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Texas Legends, Tulsa 66ers and Utah Flash.
"We are looking forward to our second season here in Springfield," said Schwerin, "The entire front office staff has been working tirelessly during the off season to make sure that this year has even more fun-filled entertainment and excitement than last year. We are very anxious for November to roll around and get back in the arena with our fans on Opening Night."

Highlighting the Armor's 2010-2011 home schedule are 5 games against the Celtics affiliate and Armor rival, the Maine Red Claws; 1 of which is Opening Night. Also, 11 different opposing teams are traveling to Springfield to face the Armor at the MassMutual Center including the defending NBA D-League Champs, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers who will be taking on the Armor in a noon time game on Saturday, February 26th.
