MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that they will begin defending their title, raise the championship banner and have the championship ring ceremony on November 21 when they host the expansion-Texas Legends at 5:00 p.m. at State Farm Arena.

"We're looking forward to getting started again. It will be great to get to celebrate the Championship one more time with the best fans in the league, but once the games begin we will be focused on bring another title to the Rio Grande Valley," Vipers head coach Chris Finch said.

It will be the first of 50 regular season Vipers games, including 24 at State Farm Arena and two at the South Padre Island Convention Center during the NBA Development League Showcase in January. Most Vipers home games will start at 7:00 p.m., with the exceptions of opening night, Sunday, December 26 (3:00 p.m.) and Kids Day (Tuesday, December 7 at 10:30 a.m.). Doors open one hour before scheduled tip-off.

"We moved up the start time of our games to make it easier on our fans, considering we are only able to have ten games on Fridays and Saturdays at State Farm Arena this season. We want to make sure our fans don't need to leave early to get ready for school or work the next day. We will have another great promotional schedule, including a replica Championship banner giveaway on opening night and appearances by [Houston] Rockets Hall of Fame mascot Clutch the Bear. More details will be announced as we get closer to the season, but you can be sure we'll have fun promotions on weekdays and weekends alike," Vipers President Bert Garcia said.

The home opener will be the first game for the Legends and feature the debut of head coach Nancy Lieberman, the first female head coach in league history. It is one of two trips for the Legends to State Farm Arena. The Vipers will also welcome the New Mexico Thunderbirds, the Bakersfield Jam, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Austin Toros, the Maine Red Claws, the Iowa Energy, the Idaho Stampede and the Springfield Armor to State Farm Arena. The Vipers will also play the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and the Erie BayHawks on South Padre Island during the Showcase.

Fans can guarantee their seats to watch the Vipers defend their title by calling (956) 972-1144 to purchase season tickets, which start at $150 (plus tax).

The Vipers will face the Tulsa 66ers, who they swept for the NBA Development League Championship, in Tulsa on December 5 and March 26. The Vipers will also visit the Reno Bighorns, who they beat in the Quarterfinals, on December 10 and 11.

Also highlighting the 2010-11 NBA D-League Schedule is the fifth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game and the Dream Factory skills competition, which will take place as part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas at NBA All-Star 2011 in Los Angeles.

For the second consecutive year, the NBA D-League will feature two conferences, East and West, with the Legends replacing the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Western Conference, which also includes the Vipers, Toros, Jam, Stampede, Thunderbirds, Bighorns, 66ers and Utah Flash. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Dakota Wizards, BayHawks, Mad Ants, Energy, Red Claws, Skyforce and Armor.
