New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
Rio Rancho, NM, Aug. 04, 2010 - The New Mexico Thunderbirds open their 2010-11 season in the NBA Development League on the road on Saturday, Nov. 20th at 7 P.M. MST when they travel to Idaho to play the Stampede in Boise, Idaho, but they will be ready to talk turkey on Friday, Nov. 26th at 7 P.M. MST when they unveil their new home court at the Santa Ana Star Center to New Mexico fans.
The Thunderbirds-Stampede contest is the first of 50 regular season games for the Thunderbirds, 24 of which will take place at the Santa Ana Star Center. The Thunderbirds will also take part in the 2011 NBA D-League Showcase that will take place from Jan. 10-13 at The South Padre Island Convention Center in South Padre Island, Texas.
"We are really excited about the upcoming season," said team owner Sam Bregman. "With Coach Darvin Ham's leadership, we are confident that the Thunderbirds will produce the type of competitive basketball that helped us win the Championship in 2006. Our first home game this season is the night after Thanksgiving, on Friday, November 26, 2010 at our new team home, the Santa Ana Star Center. We are grateful for the support of the community in welcoming us into our new arena, and we are inviting our fans to be part of a loud and proud sellout crowd for Opening Night. We are New Mexico's own NBA team and we are proud to be able to bring minor league professional basketball to our home State."
Also highlighting the 2010-11 NBA D-League Schedule is the fifth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game and the Dream Factory skills competition, which will take place as part of NBA Jam Session presented by Adidas at NBA All-Star 2011 in Los Angeles.

"Our ticket prices are even more affordable than seeing a movie," said Bregman. "With so many weekend games and great half-time and arena festivities, the Thunderbirds provide some of the best live quality entertainment in New Mexico."
For the second consecutive year, the NBA D-League will feature two conferences, East and West, with the Texas Legends replacing the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Western Conference. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Dakota Wizards, Erie BayHawks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Iowa Energy, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce and Springfield Armor, while the Western Conference includes the Austin Toros, Bakersfield Jam, Idaho Stampede, New Mexico Thunderbirds, Reno Bighorns, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Texas Legends, Tulsa 66ers and Utah Flash.
